Refund column
Refunds, deposits, and missed sittings
These rules apply to Opening Sittings, Applied Identity Reviews, Family Identity Sittings, and the Identity Journey Canvas. They do not mention goods we do not sell.
Eligibility
A refund is due when we cancel a sitting and cannot offer another date you can take; when a sitting has not begun and you cancel inside the timeframe below; or when Australian Consumer Law requires a remedy because the sitting was not provided with due care and skill.
A refund is not due merely because a canvas is painful to read, because a relative disagrees with a station, or because you later decide you wanted a different sitting type after work has started.
Timeframe for cancelling before a sitting
Opening Sitting and Applied Identity Review: cancel at least three full days before the date and we refund the fee in full. Cancel later than that, or fail to attend, and the fee is kept because the chair cannot be filled at short notice.
Family Identity Sitting and Identity Journey Canvas: the deposit (one third) holds the first date. Cancel at least ten full days before the first sitting and the deposit is refunded. Cancel later, and the deposit is kept. Later sittings already paid may be refunded if we have not yet taken them, minus writing already done (see work already started).
Full or partial refunds
If we have taken a sitting and you decide not to continue, we refund the unused sittings and the unused binding, and we keep the fee for sittings already taken and for writing already drafted. You receive whatever draft exists at that date, printed, without a bound canvas unless you pay for binding separately.
If a canvas cannot be finished because a practitioner is ill and no cover can be offered inside six weeks, you may choose a later date or a full refund of amounts paid minus sittings already taken (those sittings are charged at the Opening Sitting rate of AUD 280 per ninety minutes or part thereof).
Non-refundable items
- Deposits on canvas or family sittings cancelled inside ten days of the first date
- Fees for sittings you did not attend without three days’ notice (opening and review) or without contacting us at all
- Extra bound copies already sewn
- Registered postage already paid to Australia Post
Work already started
Handwritten notes and typed drafts are work. Once a working sitting has been taken, that sitting’s share of the fee is earned. The remaining share (later sittings, revision, binding) can still be refunded if you stop. We will not continue writing a canvas you have asked us to abandon.
Materials
We do not buy fabric, flowers, or workshop kits on your behalf. Paper, thread, and board for a bound canvas are included in the canvas fee. If you stop after approving a draft for binding, and the binder has already sewn, the binding line is not refunded. If the binder has not yet sewn, that line is refunded.
No-shows and rescheduling
Write or telephone if you cannot come. One reschedule per commission is allowed without a fee if you give at least three days’ notice (opening and review) or ten days’ notice (canvas and family). A second reschedule may be charged AUD 60 to cover the unused room. After a no-show, a new deposit is required to hold another canvas date.
How to ask
Write to hello@identitycanvascore.digital with the sitting date, the name on the booking, and whether you want another date or a refund. You may also write to Level 12, 19 York Street, Sydney NSW 2000, or telephone +61 2 5550 7630.
We answer refund requests within five working days. Approved refunds are returned by bank transfer to the account that paid, within ten working days of our receiving the account details. We do not refund in cash at the table.
Cancellations by the studio
If the building is closed, a practitioner is ill, or the paper room cannot be used, we will offer a new date. If you cannot take any date inside six weeks, we refund amounts paid for sittings not taken.
These rules sit alongside rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
